The Bangkok Snake Farm Tourist Attraction

Bangkok Snake Farm is a Bangkok-based farm that specializes in the breeding of venomous serpents.

They extract venom from these snakes to create antidotes in Thailand for victims of snake bites. The farm is part of the Queen Saovabha Memorial Institute and offers an educational and fascinating experience to those who are curious about reptiles. It might even help you overcome your unjustified fears of snakes.

Highlights of Snake Farm Bangkok

Snake Farm, Bangkok, has a well-maintained and large display of vivariums along a concrete pathway. The king cobra is one of the many poisonous snakes on display. Other species include Malayan Krait and Russell’s Viper. The snake farm will make you realize how few snakes can be dangerous and how many snakes are actually considered to be a blessing.

The Queen Saovabha Memorial Institute offers venom removal, photo and snake handling sessions in its small auditorium on weekdays at 11am, 2.30pm. You can also enjoy photo and snake handling sessions on weekends at 11am.

The institute’s doctor gives a general talk on snakes, while the handler shows you a snake. The doctor explains the key facts in excellent English and you can sense his passion as he describes the reptile’s lifestyle. The audience is seated close to the stage. Children will love this show because they can touch the snakes.

Snakes should be handled carefully and not abused, as it is often the case at some local shows. Cobras are always the most impressive, as they raise their heads and assume their defensive posture. The sheer size of a king cobra is enough to inspire fear or respect in the audience. There are many snakes on display, some of which are stunning. From a green tree snake, to a rainbow snake whose scales change colour when exposed to sunlight, or a banded krait snake with black and yellow stripes, as well as a radiated snake in its most intimidating posture, the sheer number of snakes is astounding.
